Dr. Greg Weckenbrock’s advice:
It’s not too late to add a healthier lifestyle and weight loss to your summer goals. Below are some physician recommended tips on losing weight and feeling great:
Drink Plenty of Water
Did you know water makes up 60% of your body weight? Water benefits your body by carrying nutrients to cells and flushing toxins out of vital organs. Dr. Weckenbrock recommends drinking at least 64oz per day.
Dr. Greg Weckenbrock’s answer:
YES! Sleep has many healing benefits and its importance goes way beyond just boosting your mood or banishing under-eye circles. Adequate sleep is a key part of a healthy lifestyle, and can benefit your heart, weight, mind, and more. Dr. Weckenbrock recommends 8 hours of sleep per night. Here are some of the benefits of good night’s sleep:
Your mind is surprisingly busy while you snooze. During sleep you can strengthen memories or “practice” skills learned while you were awake (it’s a process called consolidation).
Too much or too little sleep is associated with a shorter lifespan. In a 2010 study of women ages 50 to 79, more deaths occurred in women who got less than five hours or more than six and a half hours of sleep per night.
A healthy weight improves your life in so many ways, including physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Changing your eating habits should be a gradual process. Don’t be tempted to make drastic changes overnight or fall into the trap of making common dieting mistakes. Small, day-to-day changes will have a much bigger and more long-lasting effect.
Here are some common questions asked about weight loss:
Don’t genetics affect weight?
Absolutely, but you have to manage your weight within that. Work with the hand you’ve been dealt; for example, being big-boned is no excuse for being 100 pounds overweight. Accept that you have some extra challenges — and that you’ll probably never be stick-thin — but don’t let that be your excuse.
How many meals are recommended per day?
I recommend having between 6-7 small meals throughout the day. Small portions of healthy food will fuel your body with the appropriate nutrients on a balanced basis.
My friend lost weight; why didn’t her strategy work for me?
Everyone has different challenges, different resources and different gifts. Consequently, people must develop different strategies to accommodate their schedules. Find out what gives you results — and don’t quit if it doesn’t seem apparent right away.
Before I started the Figure Weight Loss program it was hard for me get around and care for my son. I couldn’t breathe, and walk up steps.
My friend told me about Figure Weight Loss and said that they would help me get my weight off, and they did. The staff was amazing and now with their help, when I look in the mirror I see someone totally different and I love it. I am more active and got my life back.
I did it with Figure Weight Loss and you can too.
When I started Figure Weight Loss I was 202lbs. I gained all the excess weight with my two beautiful children. I hated doing simple activities such as playing on the floor with them because that meant I would have to eventually get back up and that was difficult for me.
Now, with the help and support of Figure Weight Loss, I am 155lbs. I am happier than I ever have been. I can play with my kids and not have to worry about being out of breath. My new life style has made my whole family and I extremely happy.
Thank you Figure Weight Loss for giving me my life back.
I have struggled with my weight my whole life and reached my highest when I had my son. At that time I also work as a Nurses Aid which had me on my feel all of the time. Due to my weight, I experienced a lot of pain and developed issues with my knees and back. I just could not keep up and it became too much.
One day I had enough and could take it anymore. That is when I knew that I needed a change and called Figure Weight Loss. With their help I have lost 64 pounds, have more energy and am able to keep my weight off.
I am now happier, healthier and feel much better.
